Maddie and Zach met the old-fashioned way, at work, at Cape Fear Seafood Company. Zach was home from college on winter break, working as a line cook, while Maddie was a server. Between busy shifts, they bonded over witty quips, shared laughs, and stolen glances across the restaurant. Before Zach headed back to college, he took a chance and asked Maddie out on a date.Zach returned to NC State, and Maddie stayed in Wilmington, but the distance only made their hearts grow fonder. Evening phone calls turned into all-night conversations, and Maddie often made the drive to Raleigh just to spend time together.Winter slowly turned into spring, and the Kramer family already had a trip planned to the Florida Keys that lined up perfectly with spring break.Little did they know, this would become one of the most infamous spring breaks of all time.In the spring of 2020, the COVID-19 outbreak changed everything. What began as a one-week break turned into two “to stop the spread,” and eventually an entirely remote semester. Zach moved back to Wilmington—and in with Maddie. They were head over heels and completely inseparable.When COVID fears eased and the following semester arrived, Zach and Maddie found themselves apart again. They couldn’t stand it. Maddie made the bold decision to transfer to Cape Fear Seafood in Raleigh so they could be closer.Just one year after meeting, in November of 2020, Zach and Maddie bought a beautiful home and farm in Raleigh. Crazy kids, who knew just one thing: they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together.Now, six years later, Zach and Maddie share their farm with horses, goats, chickens, three beautiful Great Danes; Millie, Forrest, and Presley, and three cats: Fig, Juniper, and Nyx.They’ve both finished their education and now work as an OTA and an Engineer, respectively. The farm sells chickens, eggs, goat milk, and soap, and continues to grow alongside them.We are so excited to share the next step of our journey with all of you.

Located in Carolina Beach, a 3-minute walk from Carolina Beach, Hampton Inn &amp; Suites by Hilton Carolina Beach Oceanfront has accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, private parking, a fitness center and a shared lounge. The property is around 16 miles from USS North Carolina, a 2-minute walk from Carolina Beach Boardwalk and 15 miles from Thalian Hall. The hotel provides a terrace, a 24-hour front desk, and free WiFi is available throughout the property. The rooms include a TV, and some accommodations at the hotel have a sea view. All rooms will provide guests with a fridge. Buffet and American breakfast options are available at Hampton Inn &amp; Suites by Hilton Carolina Beach Oceanfront. There's an in-house bar and guests can also use the business area. Nearby attractions include Carolina Beach Lake Park, the Carolina Beach Fishing Pier, and Freeman Park. The bridal party will be in full length gowns and tuxedos. For ladies, knee length to midi cocktail dresses, dressy jumpsuits or tailored skirt and blouse combos are all great options. For men, suits or sport coats are fine. Ties are optional. Keep in mind that you will want to be comfortable as it gets hot in May and we will be doing a lot of dancing!

Dress Code

For those who are in town on Friday night the 22nd, the town of CB kicks off the summer Fireworks by the Sea and Boardwalk Blast series. Live music starts at the Boardwalk Gazebo Stage around 6:30 PM followed by fireworks at approximately 9:00 PM. It gets very crowded so arrive early if you want to get a seat. You can also bring your own chair. The fireworks are best seen from this area and on the beach as well. There are a couple of rooftop restaurants and bars where you can view them as well.

Tony Silvagni is a local celebrity in our area. He is one of the top longboard surfers in the world. He offers surf lessons and rents out equipment such as surf boards, paddle boards, bikes, umbrellas and chairs.

This is one of our favorite activities on the beach! Rent bikes and go for a nice ride on the Greenway. It is also a nice place to walk. You can park at Mike Chappell Park. In the very early mornings you might see deer and keep a watchful eye out for an alligator who lives in the pond.

The state park is very beautiful. You can walk the trails and look for Venus flytraps! There is a boat launch and kayak rentals. It offers very nice campsites for the outdoor enthusiast.

People come from all over the country to try the famous Britt's Donuts! They only take cash and the line can be very long so come early!

Open daily from 9AM to 5PM. Come visit and enjoy stingrays, eels, sharks, baby sea turtles and the cutest otter family. Reserved tickets are required.

North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher

This is a great visit for the history buff. Remains of a vast Confederate fort, with a visitors center featuring displays and artifacts.

Fort Fisher State Historic Site

This is a great way to spend an hour of your day. It is a scenic ride with views of the Cape Fear River, Old Baldy Lighthouse and potential dolphin sightings. Reservations are not required, but you can purchase tickets online or at the terminal. Always check the schedule. The cost is just $1.00 to walk on, $2.00 for a bicycle and $7.00 if you have a car.

Fort Fisher Ferry

In and around our little island there are about 17 murals that have been painted on the sides of buildings by a variety of local artists. You can get a map of the locations by visiting the town of Carolina Beach official website.

This legendary dive bar has earned a cult following as one of the most iconic spots along the coast. It is often voted the #1 dive bar in North Carolina. The star attraction is a massive walk-in cooler built around a semi trailer stocked with over 400 different beers!

Visit the lake anytime but on Saturday mornings from 8AM to 1PM is the Carolina Beach Market. You can stroll around the lake and browse unique handmade arts and crafts and get some local eats.
